The Quarterfinals are set at the 2019 YONEX U.S. Open

The quarterfinals of the 2019 YONEX U.S. Open are set after Thursday play inside Titan Gym in Fullerton, California.

Men’s Singles
The last two champions of the U.S. Open and the top two seeds, [1] Lee Dong Keun (Korea) and [2] Prannoy H.S. (India), both survived second round scares to advance to the quarterfinals. Both Lee and Prannoy needed three games to defeat their second round opponents, but managed to battle through to the next round. 

Women’s Singles
Five of the seeded players have advanced to the quarterfinals, including top-seed, Michelle Li (Canada). Two seeded players, however, were upset in the second round. Two-seed Saena Kawakami (Japan) lost to Wang Zhi Yi (China), 21-19, 21-14, while eight-seed Porntip Buranaprasertsuk (Thailand) fell to Lin Hsiang Ti (Taipei), 21-11, 21-19.

Men’s Doubles
The top-seeded men’s doubles team of Liao Min Chun/Su Ching Heng (Taipei) lost to the Japanese duo of Hiroki Okamura/Masayuki Onodera, 18-21, 21-19, 21-15. The two and three seeds, both from Taipei, advanced. 

Women’s Doubles
The American duo of Jenna Gozali/Megumi Taruno upset the three-seed, Rachel Honderich/Kirsten Tsai (Canada) to advance to the quarterfinals. The Canadian duo was forced to retire in the second game despite winning the first game, 21-12. The U.S. tandem led 15-8 at the time the match was ended. Gozali/Taruno will face the five-seed Baek Ha Na/Jung Kyung Eun (Korea) for a trip to the semifinals. The top seeds, [1] Nami Matsuyama/Chiharu Shida (Japan) and [2] Emilie Lefel/Anne Tran (France) also advanced.

Mixed Doubles
There will not be an all-German final in mixed doubles as the top-seed of Mark Lamsfuss/Isabel Herttrich (Germany) lost to the Korea duo of Ko Sun Hyun/Eom Hye Won, 21-13, 21-15. The two seed from Germany, Marvin Seidel/Linda Efler, did advanced win a three game victory over Lee Yang/Yang Ching Tun (Taipei), 19-21, 21-16, 21-17.
