USA Badminton Commercial Video Project

By Rui Wang & Absolute Production | April 24, 2019, 6:54 p.m. (ET)

Hello US shuttlers,

We are reaching out to you today to see if you would be interested in assisting us for a video project to that enhances and highlights the sport of badminton.  It is our goal to highlight the diversity of the game by showing some of the fantastic Badminton clubs and club attendees across the USA. Once completed the final edited video will be a compilation of submitted footage as well as original shot video footage. This final 30-second piece will air on the Olympic channel during 2019 US Open.  Some and some of the submitted footage will be considered for a social media online campaign and rolled out at key times throughout the year.

This entire project is being produced as a “passion of the sport” project so there will not be any financial compensation. Below is a bullet list of the request.  Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions about this project. We would like to thank you in advance for your involvement in this project.

What should I film?

We would love to see the community feel of the sport.

Happy players, both on or off the court.

People walking in the club or out of the club.

People in the store talking

People high fiving, shaking hands or when appropriate, hugging.

Can I shoot stills or just videos?

Videos would be our first choice however it would be great to have stills as will (WE WOULD NEED THE “VIDEO CLEARANCE FORM” VCF FILLED OUT FOR ANYONE ON CAMERA THAT IS IN THE SUBMITTED FOOTAGE. IF THERE ARE MINORS IN THE SHOTS THEN THEIR PARENTS WOULD HAVE TO COMPLETE THE CLEARANCE FORM ON BEHALF OF THE MINOR)

Camera Format?

Any format will work; however, the higher end cameras do work best.

Although handheld can work for many shots, nice still tripod shots would be amazing.

Suggestions for cameras:

Any Camcorder from any manufacturer

Any DSLR camera from any manufacturer

Any smartphone videos or

What length should the clips be?

The videos will be cut down in length so a series of short clips would be better than one long clip.

Do I need clearances from the people I film?

YES, (WE WOULD NEED THE “VIDEO CLEARANCE FORM” VCF FILLED OUT FOR ANYONE ON CAMERA THAT IS IN THE SUBMITTED FOOTAGE. IF THERE ARE MINORS IN THE SHOTS THEN THEIR PARENTS WOULD HAVE TO COMPLETE THE CLEARANCE FORM ON BEHALF OF THE MINOR)

Do I need sound on the video?

No, most of the the videos will be used without sound however if you wanted to capture any direct to camera testimonials (A person talking about their love of the sport) then yes audio would be excellent, Please note, if you are capturing testimonials, then please ensure there is limited or background noise and absolutely no music in the background)
