Team USA looks strong in individual Pan Am Jr. Championships

Team USA is continuing to dominate all age levels and disciplines at the XXVI Pan Am Junior Championships in Markham, Ontario, Canada after last week’s U19 Team Championship. As of July 26, the USA holds a win-loss record of 92-26 across the U11-U19 ranks.

Yuteng Wu has lead the way for the U19 men with a semifinal appearance in Men’s Singles (MS) and a quarterfinal advancement in Men’s Doubles (MD). Cindy Yuan has played to quarterfinal berths in both Women’s Doubles (WD) and Mixed Doubles (XD) competition. 

U17 XD play has seen three American pairs reach the quarterfinals. A pair apiece in Boy’s Doubles (BD) and Girl’s Doubles (GD) have advanced to the disciplinary quarterfinals. 

Joshua Yang and Brandon Xu will battle Canada’s homegrown talent in U15 Boy’s Singles (BS) semifinal action while Tiffany Kuang and Jolie Wang do the same in Girl’s Singles (GS), tomorrow. Two teams from BD and GD and three XD teams have advanced to the quarterfinal stage.   

Three of the four semifinalists in U13 BS wear the stars and stripes while Francesca Corbett and Olivia Chen (GS) will compete against Peruvian counterparts in their GS semifinal matchups. Four XD pairs have reached the quarterfinals at the U13 level.

All four U11 BS and GS semifinal athletes and two of the remaining four pairs in BD and GD represent the USA. Four duos sport the red, white, and blue in U11 XD quarterfinal play.
