After a strong start to the Yonex Thailand Open Super 1000, Thursday brought losses for both the women’s singles player Iris Wang and men’s doubles players Phillip and Ryan Chew.

In the second round of her event, Wang faced World No.18 Danish Mia Blichfeldt. She trailed early in the first game after losing seven consecutive points to Blichfeldt, who won 21-12. The second game was a tighter one with Wang staying just a few points behind Blichfeldt throughout. Despite the close trail, Blichfeldt ultimately pulled away with a 21-16 victory.

Meanwhile, Phillip and Ryan Chew played against their Malaysian opponents Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi. The Chews kept pace with the pair in the first game but gave up several stretches of consecutive points to fall 21-12. The second game began with the Americans falling behind 9-0. Unable to make up for the point deficit, they eventually lost 21-7.

In the first round, Iris Wang is scheduled to face South Korea’s World No. 17 Kim Ga Eun while the Chew brothers are scheduled to play against Taiwan’s World No. 7 men’s doubles pair Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin.
