As we face a time of great uncertainty during this ongoing global pandemic, what is certain is that the USAB does not condone any inequality or oppression of African Americans or any community of people based on race, country of origin, gender, or sexual preference. There is no question that many of the communities of our Country have been discriminated against in the past and present. USAB condemns racism, discrimination and all acts committed under its guise.
The tragic death of Mr. Floyd was preventable and is unacceptable in so many ways. Our prayers and condolences go out to his family and loved ones.
Our badminton communities across the United States and abroad need to stand together and have those much-needed discussions that may feel uncomfortable about these issues of racism and discrimination. There is no room in society or the world of sports for such actions. The beauty of sports is that it is a unifying platform that brings everyone together on the field of fair play and equality.
USA Badminton stands on the side of inclusion, diversity and equality.
