The Technical Officials Advisory Group (TOAG) is made up of individuals (parents and non-parents) who volunteer to represent their respective regions on assisting USA Badminton (USAB) National Office in matters related to tournament officiating. Our volunteers are our most valued and essential contributors as they ensure the continued growth of the sport of badminton in the U.S.
Technical Officials (TO's) are a group of experts who play a crucial role in the development of badminton. USAB is committed to developing, maintaining and improving its TO's so that its members are served by top qualified officials for its events in the U.S. The coordination and management of the TO's for USAB is the responsibility of the Technical Officials Advisory Group.
The following positions are open for election:
Region 1 - Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC, West Virginia and Virginia.
Region 2- Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas.
Region 3 - North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee.
Region 4 - Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado.
Region 5 - Southern California, all counties south of the San Louis Obispo-Kern-San Bernardino county line, Southern Nevada (Clark County), Arizona, New Mexico and Hawaii.
Region 6 - Northern California, all counties north of the San Louis Obispo-Kern-San Bernardino county line, Northern Nevada (all of Nevada except Clark County) and Utah.
The TOAG membership term of service is for two (2) years. The newly appointed TOAS membership will take effect on Jan, 31, 2021 and end on Jan. 31, 2023.
- One individual from each region will be elected to serve on TOAG. The TOAG representatives for each region will be elected by the members of that region.
- Each TOAG representative will serve a two-year term from Jan, 31, 2021 to Jan. 31, 2023.
- In addition to the elected TOAG region representatives, an athlete representative, assigned by the Athlete's Advisory Council, will also join TOAG.
- If there are no applicants from a region, the CEO will appoint an individual from that region to fill the vacancy.
We are welcoming current USAB members to submit applications.
The application is open to all USAB members who are older than 18 years old and are living legally in the U.S. Applicants must be in good standing with USAB.
USAB reserves the right to request applicants to complete a background check, Safe Sport training and sign selected documents, including a conflict-of-interest statement.
The application deadline is Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020 at 11:59 a.m. PST (one minute before noon).
