2020 Rising Stars

USA Artistic Swimming has selected this year's Rising Stars. The Rising Star program is run by Tammy McGregor - 1996 Olympian, former National Team Coach & current Coach for the Walnut Creek Aquanuts.  The program is designed to work with up and coming athletes, under the age of 15, that have National Team potential.  Athletes who are chosen for this program are visited by Tammy 2 -3 times per year to work on technical and routine skills.  In addition, they are provided continuous support via videos, chats and e-mails. The six athletes selected for this year's Rising Star Program are.



Lily Baioni – Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC) Synchro

Lily Baioni was born in Portland, OR in 2008. Lily was 5 years old when she first saw the MAC Masters Synchro team outside her club pool. She wondered what this fun group of ladies were doing and after finding out asked her parents to sign her up for a Synchronized Swimming camp that summer. Lily has been in love with the water and all creatures that share its life-giving essence ever since. Lily is in her 4th year of Synchronized Swimming with MAC Synchro and just performed her first solo. She attends Childpeace Montessori and loves the subjects of Art, Math, Science, Geography, PE & Spanish. In her free time Lily enjoys painting, interior design, skating and relaxing with her family and friends.

Alivia Oliver- Gardens Synchro

Alivia was born in Arkansas in 2008, and moved to West Palm Beach, FL before her first birthday. Alivia's love for the water and swimming began at an early age. She joined Gardens Synchro when she was 6 years old; this is her 5th season with the club and in the sport of synchro. Alivia is passionate, hardworking, driven, and determined! She has National Team and Olympic dreams. Outside of synchro Alivia enjoys reading, the beach, and time with family and friends.


Nicolette Tselikis - Nevada Desert Mermaids

Nicolette was born in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2008. She competed at the 2019 Junior Olympic Championship, attended the 2019 All Star Camp and is a level 4 swimmer. She has competed in team, solo and duet routines. Nicolette is Vice President of a National Charity League, Center for Bright Kids regional participant and honor student at the Meadows School. She enjoys making art, running, reading, watching movies and walking her fluffy Shih-Tzu. Her favorite part of Artistic Swimming is the amazing friends she meets, coaches she works with and the feeling after a great swim-through. She has aspirations of making the USA Olympic team and pursuing synchro in college.


Dempsey Raftus - Austin Angelfish

Dempsey lives in Austin, TX and swims with the Austin Angelfish. She started artistic swimming at age 9, and she hated it at first because the water was cold. The allure of sparkly costumes, makeup and great friendships kept her in the pool. Hard work and great coaching paid off as the Angelfish 12U team qualified for JOs in their second season together. Dempsey was invited to attend talent camp in Colorado Springs, Colorado in October and participated in National Team Age Group Trials in Arizona, where she was ranked #3 after two rounds when the pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 12U team. Dempsey enjoys tennis, skateboarding and currently learning how to ride a unicycle from her brother!




AnaMaria Camero- Splash Synchronized Swim

AnaMaria started competitive Allstar cheerleading when she was 5 years old. She won the All American Championship in Vegas and qualified for World Summit in Florida. She started synchronized swimming when she was 6. She stopped cheerleading when she was 8 to pursue her synchro career. She has done gymnastics, has taking piano, and violin lessons and currently she is learning the flute. She is a very hard worker, dedicated, persistent, she is very flexible, athletic, and she is passionate about synchro. She is a level 4 swimmer and has goals to be an Olympic swimmer.

Emma Kim- Austin Angelfish

Emma has been swimming with the Austin Angelfish in Austin, TX since she was 6 years old and is currently in her 8th season as an Angelfish. She has competed at the last 4 Junior Olympics and finished 11th in solo and 11th in duet in her final year of 12 & Under competition in 2017. Last season, she and her duet partner qualified and competed at the US 13-15 Nationals in her first year as a 13-15! Last year, Emma was selected by her region to attend the USA Synchronized Swimming All Star Camp twice. She is a versatile swimmer who has competed in all age groups depending on where her team needed her while consistently improving figures in her own age group every year. When she is not at the pool, Emma attends St. Andrew's Episcopal school where she is an honor roll student and an active member of her school's Fine Arts Council and Student Council. In her spare time, Emma loves to read, ride her bike, hang out with her dog, and travel with her family. Her synchro goals include swimming in finals at Nationals and JO's, making a National Team, and continuing her synchro career in college!
