Erin King Promoted to FINA A List

USA judge Erin King was recently promoted to the prestigious distinction of FINA A judge. The role of our international judges is extremely important. Technical knowledge and expertise are essential for judges to ensure the competitive fairness of competitions and evaluate routines both adequately and efficiently. Additionally, judges act as ambassadors of our sport and country on the international stage.

There are two levels of FINA judges: a G rating and an A rating. Judges need to attend training and pass a test to be a G judge and are only eligible to officiate certain competitions. In the United States, our International Relations Committee (IRC) selects judges to be added to the G list. Once G-level judges display a resume of adequate international competition attendance and evaluations they may be promoted to the A level should there be an opening. Before the IRC considers putting forward a new name to the FINA list, the committee also considers the level of participation and competence displayed at our domestic competitions. An A-level distinction allows a judge eligibility to judge the highest level of competitions including World Championships and Olympic Games.

Erin was first added to the FINA G list in 2015. Since then, she has served excellently at the 2022 FINA Youth World Championship (Charlotte, NC), 2021 Junior Pan American Games (Cali, Colombia) and the 2019 FINA Artistic Swimming World Series (Tokyo). Erin also has a tremendous attendance rate at domestic competitions and has dedicated her time to helping to move the sport forward. USA Artistic Swimming is honored to have Erin representing our nation on the FINA A list.
