COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The senior national team will participate in the Canada Virtual World Series this weekend with a few familiar routines and a few new. The team pre-recorded their performances in a similar format to the USA Virtual World Series earlier this year. This will be the last competition before the team takes the pool in Barcelona for the Olympic Qualification Tournament and FINA Artistic Swimming in June. The feedback gathered from these performances will be an important piece in the team’s preparation for the grand finale of their international competition circuit in Spain. The event will be available for streaming HERE. The action will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET on both days.
Viewers will see a breakout performance from the team’s youngest members in Megumi Field and Anya Melson this weekend as the dual-team athletes compete in the tech duet category. Lindi Schroder and Anita Alvarez will grace both the tech and free duet categories at the Canada World Series, marking another stop on their road to hopeful Olympic qualification. Their duets scored high marks at the USA Virtual World Series earlier this year, recording 84.9333 and 83.4588 and taking first in both categories. Nikki Dzurko will once again showcase her talents in the tech solo category. She topped the competition at the USA leg and secured a gold medal in her first performance with the senior national team. Ruby will also be competing in the tech solo category for the first time this year. Finally, Anita Alvarez will continue to represent the Stars and Stripes as a strong soloist in the free category. Tech routines will air on Saturday and free routines will air Sunday.
The USA senior national team also entered the Robot free team routine that has made waves worldwide for its innovative and high-risk choreography. This routine has been continuously refined in the past few months and will look slightly different then when viewers saw it last at the USA World Series. The squad is still choosing to save the debut of their tech team program for Spain. There have been no roster changes since the last competition, swimming team for will be Anita Alvarez, Lindi Schroeder, Ruby , Abby Remmers, Paige Areizaga, Nicole Goot, Hannah Heffernan and Daniella Ramirez.
