COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Artistic Swimming (USAAS) would like to congratulate Scottsdale Synchro swimmer, Radia Wong, for winning the September 2020 Member of the Month.
Wong has been actively contributing to her community for many years. Her family has a history of donating and Wong has strived to further her families’ work. Working together, they aimed to accomplish many community efforts which paved the way for Wong to branch out on her own to make a difference in the local community.
Specifically, with her drive and inspiration, 2,000 masks went to Navajo Nation, Valleywise Hospital, Phoenix Fire Station, and Scottsdale P.D. for the frontline workers that make great strides to keep our country safe. Wong’s nonprofit, @tigerandminky has fundraised $4,234.00 for 7,000 masks.
Moving forward to make a bigger impact, Wong invited her synchro swimming teammates, high school friends, and a student nonprofit organization Student Support Brain Tumor Research, to produce 600+ appreciation cards. Together with the cards, 4,000 masks were donated to TGen, Barrow Tumor Research Center, Mayo Clinic, Honor Health, Phoenix Children's Hospital, and Ridgecrest Healthcare from June to August.
Wong recently donated another 1,000 masks to her high school to prepare her school's hybrid plan and make sure everyone is safe during these difficult times.
We are thrilled to honor Wong in this month’s Member of the Month and congratulate her with a brand-new pair of Blenders Sunglasses! Thank you to our sponsor Blenders Eyewear for supporting USAAS Member of the Month. Nominations for October Member of the Month will be open October 1 – 14.
