COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - USA Artistic Swimming is excited to team up with the Arizona Artistic Swimming Association to host two USAAS national meets in 2021. The 2021 U.S. National Championships & U.S. Junior Championships and the Junior/Senior National Team Trials will be held at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center on April 7-11, 2021. The 13-15 Championships & 12 and Under Invitational and the final phase of Age Group National Team Trials will be held at the Skyline Aquatic Center on April 21-24, 2021.
With an already heavy concentration of artistic swimmers in the Southwest region, Arizona makes the perfect location to host swimmers from across the country for these prestigious events. The Arizona Artistic Swimming Association is no stranger to hosting USAAS events, and has hosted five national championships since 2012. Candy Kaemerer with AASA said they are excited and ready to help host two national artistic swimming events in sunny Arizona.
“We have a large artistic swimming community and look forward to welcoming all competitors, coaches, judges, and family to the Grand Canyon state,” Kaemerer said. “Along with Visit Tucson Sports and the Town of Oro Valley, we will be hosting the Junior/Senior Championships at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center. With the help of Visit Mesa and City of Mesa, AASA will be hosting the 13-15 Nationals along with the very first 12 & Under Invitational at the Skyline Aquatic Center.”
The Town of Oro Valley will host the 2021 U.S. National Championships & U.S. Junior Championship at the beautiful Oro Valley Aquatic Center. When looking for cities to host this event, USAAS Events and Membership Director, Baylee Robinson said the OVAC checked all the boxes needed to hold this premier event. Luchie Javelosa with Visit Tucson Sports said they are ready to welcome a new group of athletes to their first-class facility.
“The Oro Valley Aquatic Center (OVAC), Town of Oro Valley, and Visit Tucson Sports are excited to host the 2021 US Senior & Junior Championships and Senior National Team Trials,” Javelosa said. “OVAC along with Arizona Artistic Swimming Association have successfully hosted USA Artistic Swimming events throughout the years and we look forward to welcoming the USAAS team, staff, and their supporters back to our destination.”
The City of Mesa was supposed to host the back-to-back Collegiate, Senior, Junior and 13-15 national championship in 2020, but Suzanne Cecil with Visit Mesa said they are honored to welcome back USAAS for an event in 2021.
“While unable to show off our destination in the spring of 2020 due to the impact of COVID-19, Mesa is thrilled that USA Artistic Swimming decided to return in 2021,” Cecil said. “Offering one of the most in-demand pools in the nation, Skyline Aquatic Center has been a regular home for the Junior & 13-15 Championships. The competition takes place during our favorite time of the year with near-perfect weather allowing for new experiences across our city when athletes dry off.
“Families and fans will be welcomed to an outdoor playground perfect for mountain biking, hiking, paddle boarding and more, all minutes from the pool deck,” Cecil continued.
The locations for the remaining events will be announced soon. Dates are as listed:
- America Open: February 11 – 13, 2021
- Junior Olympics: June 26 – July 3, 2021
- US Masters Championship: October 21 – 24, 2021
