Your Opportunity To Make A Difference - Join the USAAS Board of Directors

USA Artistic Swimming (USAAS) has experienced dramatic change in recent years. This change is a result of the organizations leadership. USAAS is more dedicated than ever to building a better organization. That starts at the top which is why we invite all members and beyond that may be interested in serving on the Board of Directors, Board of Governors and/or elected committee positions to review the information below and the attached document to better understand what positions are available and the requirements of those positions. 

We want a diverse perspective from members and independent professionals. We are fortunate to have so many great volunteers that serve our organization. These positions offer the highest level of impact to USAAS. If you are interested in making USAAS the best it can be this is your opportunity. If you know someone who is not directly connected to our sport, but cares about our sport and can bring their skills to help us please share the Independent Director opportunity with them.

Elections will be held at the end of convention for all available positions. The following Board of Directors positions will be open for nomination until September 7, 2020 except for the newly created Vice President of Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion and two athlete positions (responsibilities and requirements currently being finalized) the responsibilities of each can be found under Articles 3 and 4 of the Code of Regulations.

  • President – Two year term – All members in good standing are eligible. An independent can serve as the President.
  • Vice President Olympic International - Two year term – All members in good standing are eligible.
  • Vice President Diversity, Equality & Inclusion - Two year term – All members in good standing are eligible.
  • Athlete Representative – Two year term – All athletes who have ever represented the United States in an Olympic Games, Pan Am Games or World Championship. Athletes who participated in a National Team Selection event are also eligible. (no 10 year rule)
  • Athlete Representative – Two year term -  All athletes who have ever represented the United States in an Olympic Games, Pan Am Games or World Championship. Athletes who participated in a National Team Selection event are also eligible. (no 10 year rule)
  • Independent Director – Four year term – Must not be a current member of the organization, or a member in the last 24 months. – Nominations are approved or denied by the Board of Directors.   • 25 Board of Governors At Large Positions – Two year term – All members in good standing are eligible.

Elections will be held at convention for all available positions. The following Committee positions will be open for nomination until September 7, 2020. The responsibilities can be found under Articles 5 of the Code of Regulations.

  • 5 International Relations Committee At Large Positions – Four year term – All members in good standing are eligible.
  • 4 National Team Program Committee At Large Positions – Four year term – All members in good standing are eligible with the exception of coaches who are in the National Team Coaches pool.

To become a candidate for any of these positions:

1. Completely fill out the nomination form below. You must be a current USA Artistic Swimming member in good standing.

2. Send the nomination form (and any material reinforcing your candidate's qualifications) to the Chair of the Nominating Committee, Anna Farmer anna@fbbfamily.net no later than September 7, 2020. Once current membership is verified, the candidate will be contacted in confirmation of receipt of the nomination and to verify willingness to serve.

3. All verified nominations will be presented at the Annual Convention during the Board of Directors/Board of Governors session. A meet the candidates session will be held for all Board of Directors nominees. An electronic election will be held during the final meeting of Convention.

4. Nominations will be accepted during convention but will be required to be submitted prior to the meet the candidates session.
