USA Artistic Swimming Announces December 2020 Member of the Month

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Artistic Swimming (USAAS) would like to congratulate Palm Beach Coralytes swimmer, Andrea Gutierrez, for winning the December 2020 Member of the Month.

Gutierrez has been an athlete on the Palm Beach Coralytes Synchronized Swimming Team since 2008. Coach Caroline Karolinko says, “I have coached Andrea for the past twelve years and continue to be amazed by her work ethic, drive, determination, and most of all her character. As head coach of the Palm Beach Coralytes since 2004, I have coached hundreds of girls and none quite stand out to me like Andrea does.”

Gutierrez has always been a key member of the team. Her teammates frequently refer to her as dependable and kind. Gutierrez has received awards such as Most Dedicated, Most Loyal, Citizenship Award and most recently, The Coaches Award. These awards speak highly of her character. Gutierrez is humble, yet strong and leads by example. She meets challenges head on and overcomes obstacles with grace. Gutierrez's drive and determination will set her up for continued success in and out of the water.

This season, Gutierrez is one of the oldest members of the team. She is truly shining in her leadership role. Gutierrez guides and mentors the new members of the team while encouraging them to push themselves to be the best they can be. She spends her evenings off of her practices as a volunteer novice coach and teaches basic swimming and synchronized swimming skills to new members of the club. With her warm-heart and natural coaching abilities, she has flourished as a novice coach. Gutierrez especially excels in helping struggling swimmers acquire new skills. She is always the first to lend a helping hand to her coaches and teammates.

Coach Karolinko says this will only give you a glimpse into the wonderful young woman that Gutierrez is. Karolinko trust that her future will be bright, and Gutierrez will continue growing as a person and an athlete. The team is proud to have Gutierrez represent the Palm Beach Coralytes at competitions around the United States of America. Gutierrez will always be a part of the team, no matter how far her dreams take her.

We are thrilled to honor Gutierrez in this month’s Member of the Month and congratulate her with a brand-new pair of Blenders Sunglasses! Thank you to our sponsor Blenders Eyewear for supporting USAAS Member of the Month. Nominations for January Member of the Month will be open January 1 – 14.
