USA Artistic Swimming Unveils 2021 US Junior Olympic Championship Site

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - USA Artistic Swimming announces today its partnership with the United States Air Force Academy to host the 2021 U.S. Junior Olympic Championship at the Cadet Natatorium in Colorado Springs, CO on June 26 – July 3, 2021.

The Junior Olympic Championship is the largest artistic swimmingevent in the world with over 1,100 athletes competing in the eight-day event.This will be the first time the Cadet Natatorium at the Air Force Academy has hosted the Junior Olympic Championship.

The natatorium underwent a complete renovation back in 2011 making it one of the nation's premiere on-campus aquatics venues. United States Air Force Academy Assistant Athletic Director, Travis Oosthoek said they are ready to welcome artistic swimmers to their facility for an exciting and safe event.

“We are very excited to be hosting the 2021 USA Artistic Swimming U.S. Junior Olympic Championship,” Oosthoek said. “We look forward to opening our doors to a new group of athletes for a successful event.”

Home to the United States Olympic Training Center, US Olympic & Paralympic Museum and the national office of USA Artistic Swimming, Colorado Springs and the surrounding region provide plenty of activities for athletes when they are not competing. There are more than 60 area attractions including trains, museums, excellent restaurants, parks, a zoo, and more to ensureathletes and spectators can always find something to do.

USA Artistic Swimming Events & Membership Director, Baylee Robinson said USAAS will continuously monitor local COVID guidelines to provide a safe environment for competition, but she is excited for the athletes to experience an event in the city that prides itself on supporting all athletes in their quest to becoming Olympians.

“We are excited to bring all athletes and families to Olympic City USA,” Robinson said.  With the Olympics being moved to 2021 it will be an exciting time to visit the city and participate in the event. We have a great working relationship with the host facility and will provide all safety updates as the event nears.”

With an elevation of 7,258’, USA Artistic Swimming will post guidelines for elevation specific training so every athlete will be prepared to perform at the higher elevation. The 2021 U.S. Junior Olympic Championship will be June 26 – July 3, 2021. Keep up with any important event information here.
