PARIS – Anita Alvarez (Kenmore, N.Y.) and Mariya Koroleva (Concord, Calif.) finished sixth in the duet technical Saturday at the French Open Make Up Forever.
The U.S. duet scored 80.1564 points, just behind duets from Austria (82.1488) and Switzerland (80.7753). Spain’s Ona Carbonell and Gemma Mengual finished first with 88.0049 points, followed by France’s Margaux and Laura Auge (84.0293) and Mexico’s Nuria Diosdado and Karem Achach (82.8461).
Alvarez and Koroleva will compete in the free final on Sunday. The duo finished third in the duet free on Friday.
Swimmers from 24 countries are competing at the French Open, including 21 duets.
