COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – Last weekend USA Archery celebrated incredible collegiate archery successes at the 2017 U.S. National Outdoor Collegiate Championships Award Banquet on the USS Midway. In this stunning and historic venue, archers and coaches were recognized for their hard work and dedication in the classroom, on campus, at practice and on the competition field.

The National Team Championship Award is calculated based on the points accrued in a school's best performance in three out of the four divisions: Barebow, Bowhunter, Compound and Recurve from the Individual and Team rankings.

Texas A&M ran away with the win for the 19th time, dominating the field with six gold, seven silver and five bronze medal finishes. Coach Lorinda Cohen-Gomez shared: “Winning Nationals is so much more than just bringing home an award. I would say for A&M, it’s about how a group of people can come together in an individual sport to make it a team sport. Our team members push each other to be better. A lot of our members when they talk about nationals, you’ll hear them say how they personally want to do well, but mostly you hear them say that they want to win together as a team. That to me is what this championship means: comradery, hard work, and enjoying the sport.”

Emmanuel College in Georgia took second place ahead of James Madison University. Click here to read how the points for this award are calculated and to see the final standings for 2017.

All-American Team Honors are awarded to the top 25% of archers in each division (maximum of 10 per division) based on their combined National Indoor and Outdoor National Championship Qualification scores. USA Archery shares our sincerest congratulations with the winners of these awards and all the archers who participated in the 2017 U.S. National Outdoor Collegiate Championships.
