The Long Track World Cup season comes to a close in Heerenveen with five podiums from Team USA

The Long Track World Cup Final in Heerenveen, Netherlands finished with a bang for Team USA who brought home five podiums and three Overall World Cup Titles over the two day competition! It was an electric environment in Heerenveen with a sold out oval of 12,000+ screaming fans each day. 


On Saturday, Erin Jackson (Ocala, FL) took first place in the first round of two 500m events with a time of (37.32). Also in the 500m (1), Brittany Bowe (Ocala, FL) took 4th with a time of (38.02) and Kimi Goetz (Flemington, NJ) came in 9th with a time of (38.31). 


The next day in the second 500m Erin Jackson continued her dominance in the 500m winning Gold in a time of (37.32). Brittany Bowe finished right behind with Silver in a time of (37.55). Kimi Goetz moved up in the ranks taking 6th with a time of (38.00). 


Emery Lehman (Oak Park, IL) and Joey Mantia (Ocala, FL) both competed in the Men’s 1500m event. Lehman took 7th with a time of (1:45.27) and Mantia in 12th with a time of (1:47.71). 


In the Women’s 1500m, Brittany Bowe took 7th with a time of (1:55.81) being the only American to compete in that distance.

 

Bowe won Silver again in the 1000m in a time of (1:14.07). Teammate Kimi Goetz won Bronze in a time of (1:15.10). This was also Kimi’s first ever World Cup medal; what a way to end the season!


In the Men’s Mass Start, Ian Quinn (St. Louis, MO) took 8th with a time of (7:45.14). On the women’s side, Dessie Weigel (Boise, ID) came in 12th with a time of (8:59.90).

 

The 2021-22 Overall World Cup Titles were also awarded in Heerenveen. Brittany Bowe won the 1000m Title and was on every 1000m podium this season. Bowe would also claim second for the Overall 1500m. Erin Jackson was the overall World Cup Champion in the 500m where she dominated the season by winning six out of ten races this season. Joey Mantia won the 1500m Overall Title by bringing home a Bronze, Silver and two Gold medals throughout the season!
