Junior World Championships Recap

March 05, 2015, 4:34 p.m. (ET)

Members of Team USA held their own during a competitive weekend of racing in the ISU World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Japan. The athletes gained valuable international experience racing among the best junior skaters in the world.

Friday was highlighted by a 7th place finish for April Shin in the A final, and the ladies relay qualifying for the B final.

“The ladies relay went smoothly,” said coach Katherine Reutter. “The timing of the exchanges was the best it's ever been. The speed was faster than anything they've done in practice.”

She added, “The athletes know they have a lot to learn in order to move up in the ranks and they're hungry to do the work it takes to get there.”

The next ISU Short Track Speed Skating event is the ISU World Speed Skating Championships 2015 in Moscow, Russia from March 13-15, 2015.
