Krueger Brothers Impress at Short Track World Cup Korea

December 21 (Seoul, Korea). The final day of this weekend’s ISU Short Track World Cup was highlighted by Cole Krueger's standout performance in the 3000m. This was the first time this event has happened as an individual distance. Krueger, who hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, skated a very smart final against 7 competitors, including 3 from the host country, Korea. He positioned himself well for the final sprint and held on for 4th place, his best-ever individual performance.

Brother John-Henry Krueger placed 10th in the 500m, after narrowly missing the podium in yesterday’s 1500m.

The women’s relay team battled well for their 6th place finish, keeping them in the hunt for a World Championship spot.

Jessica Smith (West Jordan, UT) landed in 9th place in the 500m, ahead of teammate Kimberly Goetz (Flemington, NJ), who finished 19th.

“The team is gaining experience and taking advantage of the world class competition,” said coach Jonathon Cavar. “This trip has proven to be beneficial for our first time world cup racers.”

The ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating Series takes a break for the holiday season and resumes in the New Year in Dresden (GER) on February 6-8, 2015.
