This competition will serve to select a potential World Cup Team in the event of a 'Hub-Like' World Cup Series the ISU might host in January 2021. If you want to race and are coming from out of town you will have to follow the below measures:

All incoming participants will have to follow certain protocols as outlined in the following. 

If you intend to ONLY skate single distances: 

  • Arrive in SLC no later than Sunday, November 29th
  • 1st COVID-19 test on Monday (current hours 7am-12:30pm) 
  • 2nd COVID-19 test on Tuesday (current hours 7am-12:30pm) While you undergo these tests you can train on public drop-in speed skating sessions but not on FAST/NT ice 
  • Both tests have to come back negative before will be allowed on FAST/NT training sessions and/or approved to race I


If you intend to ALSO race Mass Start: 

  • Arrive in SLC no later than Thursday, November 26th
  • Following USOPC protocol for moderate risk activity, the next three days should include no high risk activities (For example, eating in restaurants) 
  • 1st COVID-19 test on Monday (current hours 7am-12:30pm) 
  • 2nd COVID-19 test on Tuesday (current hours 7am-12:30pm)
  • While you undergo your three day waiting period and the following tests you can train on public drop-in speed skating sessions but not on FAST/NT ice 
  • Both tests have to come back negative before will be allowed on FAST/NT training sessions and/or approved to race 

All participants will be required to self-monitor and record their daily temperature for 14 days prior to the first day of competition. Participants must provide proof on Thursday, December 3rd no later than noon (MT) to Matt Kooreman.

If you are currently training with a program/club outside of Utah you will need to notify Matt Kooreman at mkooreman@usspeedskating.org of your intention to participate to receive additional information for incoming athletes and coaches. 

All athletes are further must limit COVID risky behavior starting December 1st. i.e. in-restaurant dining, attending private gatherings , indoor recreational activities (bowling etc.). All athletes further should wear a mask if in public and when not around people of the same household.

 

Program:

Day 1:500m L & M, 3000m L, 5000m M
Day 2: 1000m L & M, Mass Start (2x) L & M
Day 3: 1500m L& M, 5000m L, 10,000m M

Qualifying Times:

1) To compete in the U.S. Single Distance Championship in any event other than the 500m, competitors must have met a "D1" level time standard for seniors and "D2" live time standard for Juniors and Masters after December 27th, 2019 and prior to entry deadline. Athletes who do not have a USS time standard may compete in the 500m only. 

Any D1 or D2 time standard will make an athletes eligible for all events except the 5000m for ladies and 10,000m for men. Eligibility to compete in the 5000m ladies and 10,000m men will be the "C" time standard in the 3000m ladies and 5000m men respectively. 


2) For the Mass Start, the 1500m "C" level time standard will be required to be eligible.


3) These times must have been met after December 27th, 2019 and before entry deadline for the competition.

A coaches meeting will be held on Thursday, December 2nd at 5:30pm MT virtually via Zoom. All coaches, who were named by athletes in the registration process, will receive an invite.
