Team USA Medal Tracker: World Para Nordic Skiing Championships

Aaron Pike looks to capture the first world championships medal of his career at the 2019 World Para Nordic Skiing Championships in Price George, British Columbia. 

Team USA will take on its biggest competition of the year at the 2019 World Para Nordic Skiing Championships in Prince George, British Columbia, from Feb. 16-24. Four athletes will represent Team USA, including Dan Cnossen (Topeka, Kansas), Kendall Gretsch (Downers Grove, Illinois), Oksana Masters (Louisville, Kentucky) and Aaron Pike (Park Rapids, Minnesota). All four athletes competed at the Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 and brought home a total of 13 medals for Team USA.

Saturday, Feb. 16 - middle-distance biathlon (sitting)

Team USA opened competition with two gold medals, including gold for Oksana Masters and silver for Kendall Grestch in the women's sitting class of the middle-distance biathlon.

Sunday, Feb. 17 - middle-distance cross-country (sitting)

Oksana Masters and Kendall Gretsch continued their medal-winning performances, as Masters claimed her second world title in as many days with gold in the middle-distance cross-country race. Team USA additionally picked up two silvers by Gretsch and Dan Cnossen.

Monday, Feb. 18 - cross-country sprint (sitting)

Oksana Masters continued to dominate on the world championships stage, winning her third straight world title of the event in the cross-country sprint. Dan Cnossen claimed silver, while Kendall Gretsch secured bronze.

Wednesday, Feb. 20 - biathlon sprint (sitting)

Oksana Masters continued her winning ways, racing to her fourth gold medal of the world championships. Additionally, Aaron Pike secured bronze, marking his first-ever world championships medal finish.

Recap

In its biggest international competition of the year, Team USA put on a show at the 2019 World Para Nordic Skiing Championships. Oksana Masters claimed world titles in the women’s sitting class of middle-distance biathlon, middle-distance cross-country, cross-country sprint, biathlon sprint and long-distance cross-country, and picked up a silver medal in individual biathlon. Teammate Kendall Gretsch won the women’s sitting class of individual biathlon after shooting clean and additionally secured four silvers and one bronze medal. Dan Cnossen claimed a pair of medals, racing to silver in the men’s sitting class of the middle-distance cross-country and cross-country sprint races, while Aaron Pike won his first-ever world championships medal with bronze in the biathlon sprint. Team USA will compete in the final world cup stop of the season in Sapporo, Japan, from March 12-17.
