Sam Bosco returns to the 2019 track world championships as the reigning bronze medalist in the women's C4 individual pursuit.

Colorado Springs, Colo. U.S. Paralympics, a division of the United States Olympic Committee, announced today the 14 athletes, including one tandem pilot, who will represent Team USA at the 2019 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships, March 14-17, in Apeldoorn, Netherlands.

The team, which features seven Paralympians, was selected based on the results of the 2019 U.S. Paralympics Track Cycling Open presented by Toyota, which was held Feb. 2-3 in Carson, California.

Headlining the team as reigning track world champions are four-time Paralympic medalist Joe Berenyi (Aurora, Illinois) and two-time Paralympic champion Shawn Morelli (Saegertown, Pennsylvania). In 2018, Berenyi won his fourth consecutive world title in the men’s C3 1-kilometer time trial and took bronze in the individual pursuit, while Morelli grabbed the top spot in the women’s C4 individual pursuit.

Two additional medalists from the 2018 world championships return to defend their podium finishes in Apeldoorn, including two-time Paralympic medalist Jamie Whitmore (Somerset, California), who secured a trio of bronze medals in the women’s C3 individual pursuit, time trial and scratch race, and two-time Paralympic medalist Samantha Bosco (Upland, California), who raced to bronze in the women’s C4 individual pursuit.

Three additional Paralympians will represent Team USA at the track cycling world championships: Shawn Cheshire (Camillus, New York), Chris Murphy (Alta Loma, California) and Jennifer Schuble (Homewood, Alabama).
