Masters Wins Long-Distance Cross-Country Gold At World Championships

FINSTERAU, Germany – Oksana Masters (Louisville, Kentucky) won her third medal of the week as she secured gold in the women’s sitting long-distance cross-country at the 2017 World Para Nordic Skiing Championships.

Masters continues her success after claiming her first world title in the women’s cross-country sprint on Sunday and securing bronze in the women’s individual biathlon on Tuesday. She grabbed her second world title in the 12-kilometer event, outlasting the competition, with an impressive time of 36:01, over 50 seconds faster than second place. 

U.S. Army veteran Andy Soule (Pearland, Texas) finished just off the podium, consistently progressing through the 15km race, moving up from the seventh place position, to take fourth place in the same event .
