COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Laurie Stephens recorded her first world cup victory of the season as she took first place in the women's sitting slalom on Saturday at the International Paralympic Committee Alpine Skiing World Cup in La Molina, Spain.

Stephens (Wenham, Massachusetts), a six-time Paralympic medalist, edged out Germany's Anna-Lena Forster by 12-hundredths of a second to take the win. The win marked Stephens' first podium finish of the competition after two fourth place finishes earlier in the week.

“I am proud to represent Team USA and be on the top spot of the podium after today's race,” Stephens said. “Conditions were challenging, but I put two solid runs together and that was enough to take the win.”

In the women's standing class, Stephanie Jallen (Harding, Pennsylvania) finished on the podium for the second consecutive day. After winning gold in Friday's slalom, Jallen came back to finish second on Saturday.

Competition in La Molina began on Thursday, and continues through Sunday, Jan. 11 with four days of slalom competition.
