Becca Meyers shortlisted for Best of July for the Team USA Awards, presented by Dow

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –After a top performance this past month in swimming, Becca Meyers (Timonium, Maryland) has been nominated for Best of July for the Team USA Awards, presented by Dow.

Five nominees were chosen for both the male and female categories, and three for the team category to move on to the voting round. National Governing Body representatives will account for 50 percent of the vote, with the other half decided by fan voting.

Meyers is recognized after an outstanding performance at the IPC Swimming World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland where she broke three world records in a span of five days and took home three medals, two of which were gold. The 20-year-old set her second world record on July 16 after discovering she won the ESPY award for Best Female Athlete with a Disability the evening before. Her podium performances came in the women’s S13 200-meter IM, 400 freestyle and 100 butterfly as she helped Team USA finish third in the gold medal count.

Other nominees in the women’s category are Carli Lloyd (soccer), Kim Rhode (shooting), Serena Williams (tennis) and Laura Zeng (gymnastics). Fan voting will be open on until 5 p.m. MT on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
