Stephanie Jallen, 18, won a bronze medal in women's super-G standing, her first ever Paralympic Winter Games competition.

KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia ― Stephanie Jallen (Harding, Pa.) won bronze in the women’s super-G standing at the Rosa Khutor Alpine Center this morning at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games.

“This is fantastic,” she said. “Absolutely incredible. I was such a believer. I've imagined it for the last nine years of my life. I will call my mother and trainer. I know they stayed up late to watch."

Jallen, 18, finished with a time of 1:30.14. France’s Marie Bochet and Solene Jambaque finished first and second in 1:24.20 and 1:26.20, respectively.

"It was rough,” she said. “I thought I was about to fall  but I stayed up. I imagine it was tough in the downhill as well, but this was my first time on this course so I have nothing to compare it to. Now I will sleep and try to do it again tomorrow."
