Volunteer for This Event

For the first time in U.S. Paralympics’ history, the trials will feature two sports being contested concurrently, all within the city of Charlotte through Partners for Parks, which will serve as the local organization committee for the competition. The multi-sport trials will take place June 30-July 2, 2016, with a team naming ceremony on July 3.

The 2016 U.S. Paralympic Team Trials will feature competition in swimming and track & field at venues around the city of Charlotte, including the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center and the Irwin Belk Complex at Johnson C. Smith University. Family, fans and spectators can bounce from competition to competition, allowing them to take in Paralympic sport at its finest throughout the course of the three days of competition.

Cheer On Team USA's Best

If you've never watched Paralympic athletes compete before, this is your chance to watch the nation's best Paralympians and Paralympic-hopefuls up-close and in action. Athletes will be competing to punch their tickets to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. The Paralympic Games are held two weeks after their Olympic counterparts, and feature the same exciting sports, elite competition and fierce rivalries.

U.S. Paralympic Team Celebration

Join us in celebrating the athletes who will be nominated to Team USA for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games with a festive and patriotic send-off on Sunday, July 3 at 11am at Romare Bearden Park at 300 S Church Street in Charlotte.

The Biggest Weekend in Paralympic Sport

In addition to the swimming and track & field Trials, Charlotte will also play host to the 2016 U.S. Paralympics Cycling Time Trial on July 2. The event serves as one of the selection opportunities for cycling athletes to qualify for the team to compete at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
