U.S. Biathlon has named the rosters for the upcoming BMW IBU World Cups in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, and Oestersund, Sweden. The Nove Mesto World Cup will take place March 2-5 and include competition in sprints, pursuits and mixed relays. Oestersund will host individual, relay and mass start races March 9-12.
The U.S. women’s team for both races will consist of Deedra Irwin (Pulaski, Wis./National Guard Biathlon), Joanne Reid (Grand Junction, Colo./), Chloe Levins (Rutland, Vt./) and Kelsey Dickinson (Winthrop, Wash./Craftsbury Green Racing Project).
On the men’s side, Sean Doherty (Center Conway, N.H./National Guard Biathlon), Vincent Bonacci (Salt Lake City, Utah/Crosscut Mountain Sports Center Elite Team) and Vasek Cervenka (Grand Rapids, Minn./National Guard Biathlon) will race together in Nove Mesto and be joined by Jake Brown (St. Paul, Minn./Craftsbury Green Racing Project) in Oestersund.
Bonacci is fresh off his first IBU World Championships experience in Oberhof, Germany.
“After the whirlwind of world championships, it is nice to get some calmer training time to recoup some energy and focus and to really get my head on straight coming into these last few races,” said Bonacci. “The end of the season is always a fun time to really leave it all on the course and try to make something happen, and I’m looking forward to new opportunities in these new venues.”
