(Nov. 22, 2021) – The final roster of eight athletes have been selected by the U.S. Biathlon International Competition Committee to compete at the opening World Cup events of the 2021-22 season.
The eight-athlete roster competing at the first two BMW IBU World Cup competitions includes Beijing 2022 Olympic Games qualifiers Susan Dunklee (Craftsbury, Vt./Craftsbury Green Racing Project & USBA) and Clare Egan (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/USBA). Jake Brown (Saint Paul, Minn/Craftsbury Green Racing Project & USBA) also prequalified for World Cup 1 through his results last season. The three will be joined by 2018 Olympians Joanne Reid (Grand Junction, Colo.), Sean Doherty (Center Conway, N.H./National Guard Biathlon & USBA) and Leif Nordgren (Hinesburg, Vt./National Guard Biathlon & USBA).
Rounding out the women’s team is Deedra Irwin (Pulaski, Wis./National Guard Biathlon & USBA), while Paul Schommer (Appleton, Wis./Team Crosscut & USBA) complete the men’s squad.
The first two IBU World Cup competitions will take place in Oestersund, Sweden, Nov. 27-28 and Dec. 2-5.Named to the Team USA roster to compete at the IBU Cup events in Idre, Sweden (Nov. 25-28) and Sjusjoen, Norway (Dec. 1-4) are Chloe Levins (Rutland, Vt./USBA), Hallie Grossman (South Burlington, Vt./Craftsbury Green Racing Project), Lina Farra (Heber City, Utah/National Guard Biathlon Team) and Kelsey Dickinson (Winthrop, Wash./Crafstbury Green Racing Project) on the women’s team, and Max Durtschi (Ketchum, Idaho/Team Crosscut & USBA), Vincent Bonacci (Salt Lake City, Utah/Team Crosscut & USBA), Luke Brown (Saint Paul, Minn./Team Craftsbury Green Racing Project) and Vasek Cervenka (Grand Rapids, Minn./National Guard Biathlon & USBA) for the men’s squad
