NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine (Feb. 25, 2020) -- U.S. Biathlon has announced the roster for the upcoming IBU Junior Cup and the IBU Junior Open European Championships.

The junior men's team is comprised of Garrett Beckrich (Grand Rapids, Minn./Mt. Itasca Biathlon/USBA Junior National Team), Vasek Cervenka (Grand Rapids, Minn./U.S. National Guard/USBA Junior National Team), Maxime Germain (Anchorage, Alaska/Anchorage Biathlon Club/USBA Junior National Team), Lars Hammernes Leopold (Truckee, Calif./Asker Ski Club/USBA Junior National Team) and Bjorn Westervelt (Stowe, Vt./Craftsbury Biathlon). Germain is coming off a bronze-medal performance in the 7.5-kilometer sprint at the IBU Youth/Junior World Championships in January.

The U.S. women's team will feature Lina Farra (Heber City, Utah/Team Soldier Hollow), Chloe Levins (Rutland, Vt./USBA Junior National Team) and Helen Wilson (Eagle River, Alaska/Anchorage Biathlon Club). Levins had a top-20 finish in last year's IBU Junior Open European Championships, placing 19th in the 12.5km individual.

"Coming off of a successful team performance at Youth and Junior World Championships, I think this group will bring a lot of confidence into the IBU Junior Cup and the Junior Open European Championships," said U.S. Biathlon Director of Athlete Development Tim Burke. "I look forward to seeing what these up-and-coming athletes can do in their second international trip of the season."

The IBU Junior Cup will take place in Arber, Germany, March 6-7, followed by the IBU Junior Open European Championships in Hochfilzen, Austria, March 11-15.
