Following the 1998 Olympic Winter Games, Sara was introduced to the sport by one of her club coaches, Eric Reynolds, and attended a recruitment camp in Lake Placid, NY. At age 15 she competed in the 2000 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Khanty- Mansiysk (RUS). She took time off from biathlon to focus on skiing in college, and joined the USBA Development Team after graduating from Dartmouth in 2007.
 
A Boise, Idaho native Sara is the daughter of John and Beth Studebaker, and has one brother, Luke. Sara lives and trains at both the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York and in Anchorage, Alaska. She graduated from Dartmouth College in June 2007 and moved to Lake Placid to begin training as a member of the US Biathlon Team. She made her first Olympic Team in 2010. Her hobbies include: cooking, reading, knitting, anything outdoors and traveling. Sara is also currently pursuing a master's in business administration (MBA) from Keller Graduate School.
 
And some happy and recent news to share, Sara recently became engaged to Zachary Hall, a fellow US Biathlon National Team member 2007-2011.
