U.S. Biathlon names January 2015 World Cup and IBU Cup teams

(December 22, 2014) -- The U.S. Biathlon International Competition Committee is pleased to announce the team for IBU Cups 4 and 5 and for World Cups 4, 5 and 6.  We wish all the athletes good luck for the events and happy holidays.

IBU Cup 4 and 5
Winner of the trials: Maddie Phaneuf (Old Forge, N.Y.)
Discretionary selection 1: Kelsey Dickinson (Winthrop, Wash.), 2nd place trials, good development from summer 
Discretionary selection 2:  Clare Egan (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), 3rd place at trials, 2nd place roller ski trials
From World Cup:  Russell Currier (Stockholm, Maine)
Prequalified: Sean Doherty (Center Conway, N.H.)
Winner of the trials: Casey Smith (Winthrop, Wash.)
Discretionary selection: Wynn Roberts (Battle Lake, Minn.), 2nd place at trials, performance development since the fall.

2 athletes with most WC points: Susan Dunklee (Barton, Vt.)  and Hannah Dreissigacker (Morrisville, Vt.)
Discretionary selection: Annelies Cook (Saranac Lake, N.Y.), 33rd place in Pursuit at WC 2, winner of roller ski trials 
2 athletes with most WC points: Tim Burke (Paul Smiths, N.Y.) and Lowell Bailey (Lake Placid, N.Y.)
Discretionary selection: Leif Nordgren (Marine, Minn.), earned World Cup points, qualified for Pursuits competitions
