2022 Intro-to-Biathlon Summer Training Camp
Craftsbury Vermont

June 19-24, 2022
Junior skiers shouldn’t have to give up their summer cross-country ski training goals to have a chance to experience the challenge and excitement of biathlon. Our goal with this camp is to provide a weeklong training camp for junior ski-racers who want to progress their ski-specific fitness and technique but also are interested in learning the sport of biathlon. The week will conclude with a low-key biathlon race where skiers will put their newly learned skills to the test.
- Age 14-19 (U16-U20 for the 2022-23 season). U16 athletes should inquire with coaches to ensure camp will be suitable to their ability.
- No biathlon or shooting experience required. Camp is also open to athletes with some biathlon experience seeking to improve their fundamentals.
- Equipment: Athletes must bring their own skate rollerskis, poles, boots, helmet, hydration vessel, and running gear. We recommend bringing classic rollerskis, boots, and poles as well. A mountain bike may be fun to bring for a solo recovery afternoon workout or two but the camp won’t have any structured mountain bike sessions. Craftsbury will provide each athlete a biathlon rifle and ammunition for the camp.
- On-snow XC ski racing experience required
- Significant experience training on rollerskis required (2+ years of weekly rollerski training strongly recommended). Let us know if you have questions about this.
- Should be able to handle up to 2x/day 2-hour training sessions for 6 days
