COVID-19 MITIGATION PLAN 

U.S. Paralympics is dedicated to protecting the health and safety of Team USA. In light of the ongoing pandemic, U.S. Paralympics has adopted this COVID-19 Mitigation Plan to ensure the health and safety of all Participants and the larger population as a whole. This document is intended to provide clear guidance, rights and responsibilities in order to protect against and reduce the spread of COVID-19, while maintaining competitive opportunity for eligible athletes.

The countermeasures adopted in this plan may be stricter than those applied at a local, county, state or national level, but they are designed to create a safe environment and provide exposure to the types of rigid protocols applied at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. 
 
Participants will be divided into three different tiers depending on their access and necessary role function.

  • TIER 1 (RED Tier)
    • Athletes
    • Those with access to field of play/athlete areas
    • No interaction with Tier 3
  • TIER 2 (WHITE Tier)
    • Functional area leads who are not Tier 1
    • Access to most areas
    • Interaction with Tiers 1 and 3
  • TIER 3 (BLUE Tier)
    • No interaction with Tier 1
    • Specific access within the venues

Specific COVID-19 requirements for participation/attendance of the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials, as well general guidance for maintaining health safety, can be found in the mitigation plan. Failure to acknowledge the plan and its contents is not a substitute for adhering to the requirements of the event. Any questions about the protocols should be directed to the COVID Officers.

MANDATORY ARRIVAL DATES

All participants must arrive in Minneapolis at least 72 hours prior to their first competition or first sustained interaction with athletes, absent a showing of extenuating circumstances (e.g. flight delays). Arrival deadlines listed below are based on first competition date. Non-athlete Participants with roles that require sustained interaction with athletes must arrive at least 72 hours prior to the first sustained interaction or first competition date, whichever comes first.
