The USOPC Athlete Safety Policy provides definitions of prohibited conduct, requirements for training and education, and response and resolution for athlete safety matters for the USOPC.
In conjunction with the release of the USOPC MAAPP, we also made updates to the USOPC Athlete Safety Policy that are effective January 1, 2022. Download and read the USOPC Athlete Safety Policy.
The notable updates to this policy can be found in Section 4.2 Training and Education, to include the requirement to offer training to parents/guardians of Minor Athletes annually. While completing SafeSport training is not required for minors or parents/guardians, we recommend minors work with their parent/guardian to take the free youth training course offered by the U.S. Center for SafeSport. The U.S. Center for SafeSport also has resources available to parents/guardians regarding abuse prevention in sport, to include the Parent Toolkit, and free online training. These resources, and information regarding the training for both minor athletes and parents/guardians is available at the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to the Security & Athlete Safety team at athlete.safety@usopc.org if you have any questions.
