Connor Fields won the gold medal in men's BMX racing, marking the first-ever U.S. Olympic gold medal in BMX. MORE

Alise Post claimed the silver medal in the women's race, which is the first-ever silver and only the second medal for the U.S. in women’s BMX. MORE

Track and Field (1 gold, 1 silver)
The U.S. team of Tianna Bartoletta, Allyson Felix, English Gardner and Tori Bowie won the women's 4x100. The quartet got the baton around the track in a time of 41.01 seconds, 0.35 seconds faster than the silver medal winners from Jamaica. MORE

Sandi Morris gave the U.S. a silver medal in the women's pole vault, clearing 4.85m. MORE

Water Polo (1 gold)
The U.S. women's team defended its Olympic title to claim its second-straight gold medal by defeating Italy, 12-5. Eight U.S. players found the goal as the team connected on 12 of 28 tries. The U.S. is the only nation to win a medal in each of the five Olympic Games where women's water polo has competed. In addition to their gold medals from 2012 and 2016, they also hold silvers from 2000 and 2008, and a bronze from 2004. MORE

Basketball
Men’s basketball (7-0) advanced to the gold-medal game with an 82-76 win over Spain in a semifinal. Klay Thompson led the U.S. with 22 points, while DeAndre Jordan tied a U.S. Olympic record with 16 rebounds. They’ll play Serbia (4-3) at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 21). The U.S. is seeking its third consecutive Olympic gold medal. MORE

Boxing
Claressa Shields claimed a 3-0 decision over Dariga Shakimova of Kazakhstan during boxing competition Friday afternoon. Shields will face the winner of Friday's second 75 kg. semifinal between Nouchka Fontijn of the Netherlands and China's Li Qian. The gold medal final is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 21).

Diving
David Boudia and Steele Johnson have advanced to the semifinal round in men's 10-meter platform diving. Boudia, the reigning Olympic champion in the event, posted an overall score of 496.55 to place fourth among qualifiers, while Johnson's 403.75 ranked him 18th.

Equestrian
Kent Farrington
and Voyeur finished 5th in the individual show jumping competition today. The competition required a jump-off, where Farrington had two rails for eight faults. Heading into the jump off, Farrington – making his Olympic debut – was one of just three riders in the field to have incurred no jumping penalties throughout the five rounds of competition. McLain Ward (with Azur) finished in 9th place overall, while Lucy Davis (with Barron) did not advance to the second round. 

Golf
Gerina Piller shot a 3-under 68 to elevate her to 3rd place. Stacy Lewis sits in 8th place and Lexi Thompson is tied for 31st. 

Gymnastics - Rhythmic
Laura Zeng missed the individual all-around final for rhythmic gymnastics after finishing 11th in the qualification round. Zeng scored 69.841 points.

Taekwondo
Steven Lopez dropped a 14-5 decision to Oussama Oueslati of Tunisia in the bronze medal round of taekwondo's 80 kg. men's division. MORE

Track and Field
John Nunn placed 43rd in the men's racewalk competition, while Maria Michta-Coffey finished 22nd and Miranda Melville was 34th in the women's side. Shelby Houlihan finished 11th in the women's 5,000m run. In modern pentathlon, Margaux Isaksen placed 27th, while Isabella Isaksen placed 33rd. The 4x100 team of Mike Rodgers, Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay and Trayvon Bromell was disqualified after official review of the race, negating their bronze medal finish. 

Volleyball - Indoor
The U.S. men's volleyball team lost to Italy in the semifinal round, 3-2. The U.S. will play for the bronze medal at 9:30 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 21). MORE

Jordan Burroughs was eliminated in the second round of repechage in the men’s freestyle 74 kg. division with an 11-1 loss to Uzbekistan’s Bekzod Abdurakhmonov. Daniel Dennis lost his round of 16 match to Bulgaria’s Vladimir Dubov, 11-0, in the men’s freestyle 57 kg. division. MORE
