Golf (1 bronze)
Matt Kuchar posted the lowest round of the day to leap four spots up the leader board and win the bronze medal as men's golf concluded play Sunday afternoon. Kuchar's -8 over the final 18 holes gave him a 271 total, one stroke behind the silver medalist. MORE
Gymnastics (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze)
Simone Biles gave the U.S. its first-ever Olympic gold medal in women's vault Saturday afternoon during individual event finals. Biles received a score of 15.966 to easily outdistance the second-place finisher. The U.S. had won three vault silver medals in past Olympic Games, most recently by McKayla Maroney in 2012. MORE
Madison Kocian claimed a silver medal in the uneven bars after earning a score of 15.833. MORE
Alex Naddour won bronze bronze on the pommel horse, giving the U.S. its first individual Olympic medal in pommel horse since the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games. Naddour's recorded a score of 15.700. MORE
Tennis (1 gold, 1 silver)
In an all American final match, Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock won the gold medal in tennis mixed doubles, while teammates Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram claimed silver. Mattek-Sands/Sock defeated Williams/Ram, 6-7, 6-1, 10-7. The U.S. swept gold and silver one other time in Olympic mixed doubles history. MORE
Track and Field (1 bronze, 1 silver)
Justin Gatlin won silver in the 100m final with a time of 9.89 seconds. It is the third medal of his career in the event. He previously won gold in 2004 and bronze in 2012. MORE
LaShawn Merritt won bronze in the men's 400m final with a season-best time at 43.85 seconds. Merritt earned his third Olympic medal. MORE
Weightlifting (1 bronze)
Competing in the +75 kg. weight class, Sarah Robles lifted a total of 286 kg. on her way to winning the bronze medal. This is the first Olympic medal in weightlifting for Team USA since the 2000 Games. This is the first Olympic medal for Robles. MORE

Badminton
Iris Wang lost to China’s Xuerui Li, 2-0, in women’s singles group play. The loss drops her to 2-1 and ends her Olympic Games.
Basketball
Women’s basketball improved to 5-0 as it defeated China, 105-62, in its final game of group play. Tina Charles and Brittney Griner each scored 18 points to lead the U.S., while Sylvia Fowles added 13 points. The U.S. will take on Japan in the quarterfinals Tuesday (Aug. 16). MORE
Men’s basketball closed out group play with a 100-97 win over France. Klay Thompson led the way with 30 points, including 7 3-pointers. At 5-0, the U.S. enters the knockout phase as the only undefeated team in group play. The quarterfinals begin Wednesday (Aug. 17). MORE
Boxing
Gary Russell has advanced to the quarterfinal round of the men's 64 kg. in boxing competition after scoring a 2-1 decision over Wuttichai Masuk of Thailand to move into a quarterfinal bout against Fazliddin Gaibnazarov of Uzbekistan. That fight is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 16). Shakur Stevenson won his preliminary bout in the men's 56 kg. division defeating Robenilson De Jesus of Brazil, 3-0. Stevenson advances to the quarterfinal round where he will face Tsendbaatar Erdenebat of Mongolia at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 16).
Cycling Track
Through three of six events, Bobby Lea sits in 15th place with a total of 54 points. The remaining three rounds will be contested Monday (Aug. 15).
Diving
Abby Johnston placed 12th in the women's 3-meter individual competition, garnering 302.85 points on Sunday afternoon.
Equestrian
In the individual show jumping qualifier, Kent Farrington and Voyeur produced a clear round for the U.S., while teammates Lucy Davis, McLain Ward and Beezie Madden each had four-fault rounds. All four athletes sit in the top 30 and are qualified to continue in the individual competition. As a team, the U.S. finished in a four-way tie for 8th and will go sixth in the order of 15 nations in round one of team competition on Tuesday (Aug. 16).
Sailing
Pedro Pascual placed 28th in the men's RS:X competition, netting 286 points after 12 races. Marion Lepert earned 16th with 156.9 net points in the women's RS:X event. The U.S. Nacra 17 mixed team will compete in the medal race tomorrow after finishing 9th through the initial 12 races, while the men's 470 team is in 6th after seven races. The 470 women's team has netted 24 points to seed themselves 2nd after seven races. Caleb Paine will compete in the medal race in men's Finn tomorrow, after finishing 4th following the initial 10 races.
Shooting
U.S. Olympic men's 50-meter rifle 3-position competitor Matt Emmons did not advance to the final after placing 19th with a score of 1169/1200 in the qualifying rounds. Teammate Daniel Lowe finished 28th with a score of 1168/1200.
Synchronized Swimming
Anita Alvarez and Mariya Koroleva placed 9th in the preliminary free routine Sunday. The preliminary technical routine is set for Monday (Aug. 15), with Alvarez and Koroleva competing in the No. 20 spot.
Track and Field
In men’s high jump, Erik Kynard reached a qualifying mark of 2.29m during the opening round and advanced to the final, while Ricky Robertson and Bradley Atkins did not advance. In the women’s 400m semifinal, Allyson Felix, Phyllis Francis and Natasha Hastings all qualified for the final on Monday (Aug. 15). Shannon Rowbury and Jennifer Simpson advanced to the women's 1500m final, while Brenda Martinez did not advance. In women's marathon, all three American entries finished in the top 10.
Volleyball - Indoor
Women’s indoor volleyball beat China, 3-1, in pool play after dropping the first set. The U.S. ended group play at 5-0, with the quarterfinals scheduled for Tuesday (Aug. 16). MORE
Volleyball - Beach
Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross won their quarterfinal match against the Australians, 2-0, and advance to the semifinals. They will play the Brazilian team of Agatha Bednarczuk and Barbara Seixas de Freitas on Tuesday (Aug. 16).
Water Polo
The U.S. men’s water polo team posted a 10-7 win over Italy to close group play at 2-3. They won’t be moving on to the knockout stage, finishing 5th in their group. MORE
Wrestling
Greco-Roman wrestlers Andy Bisek and Jesse Thielke lost in the quarterfinals of the 75 kg. and 59 kg. weight classes, respectively. The wrestlers who beat them lost in the semifinals, meaning Bisek and Thielke were knocked out of the tournament and do not have a shot at bronze in the repechage.
