Biathlon

The U.S. men earned sixth place in the 4x7.5-kilometer relay, improving ten spots from 2014. The finish ties their 1972 result for Team USA’s best-ever performance in the Olympic event.

The team consisted of four-time Olympians Lowell Bailey and Tim Burke, and two-time Olympians Sean Doherty and Leif Nordgren. Together, the four biathletes earned a time of 1:19:06.7. MORE

Figure Skating 
Bradie Tennell jumped from 11th to ninth place in the women’s figure skating competition, landing 128.34 points on her free skate program to finish in the top 10 with a combined score of 192.35.

Mirai Nagasu finished 10th overall with a final score of 186.54, while Karen Chen placed 11th, receiving a score of 185.65. MORE 

Long Track Speedskating
Two-time Olympian Joey Mantia earned fourth place in the men’s 1,000-meter, posting a time of 1:08.564. Skating in the 13th pair, Mantia briefly held the top time until South Korean Tae-Yun Kim overtook him two pairs later. Mantia held onto the bronze medal spot until the 18th and final pair, when the Netherlands’ Kjeld Nuis claimed the gold medal with a time of 1:07.95. Norway’s Havard Lorentzen took silver with a time of 1:07.99, and South Korean Tae-Yun Kim took bronze with 1:08.22. MORE

Shani Davis, five-time Olympian and four-time Olympic medalist, took seventh with a time of 1:08.78, and three-time Olympian Mitch Whitmore took tenth with a time of 1:09.17.
