Curling
Becca Hamilton and Matt Hamilton fell to world-ranked No. 2 Switzerland, 9-4, in the third round of play on day 2 of the mixed doubles tournament. The Hamiltons led 4-3 going into the final end, but the Swiss picked up six points to secure the victory.
The Hamilton sibling duo also dropped the fourth game of the mixed doubles tournament, falling to Korea, 9-1. The Americans are now 1-3 in round robin play.
Figure Skating
In the team event, Nathan Chen finished fourth in the short program with 80.61 points as pairs duo Alexa Scimeca-Knierim and Chris Knierim also finished fourth in their short program, earning 69.75 points. With these results, Team USA ends the day second in the team event behind Canada. Competition resumes Feb. 11 with the ice dance short dance, ladies short program and pairs free skate. MORE
Freestyle Skiing
Team USA qualified three of its four women’s mogul skiers in the first of two qualifying rounds. Morgan Schild finished third with a score of 77.74, followed by Jaelin Kauf in fifth and Keaton McCargo in eighth. Tess Johnson placed 22nd and will compete in the second qualifying event on Feb. 11.
Troy Murphy finished fourth in the first men’s moguls qualifying round, scoring 80.95 points. Casey Andringa, Bradley Wilson and Emerson Smith placed outside of the top 10 and will look to earn a spot in the finals at the second qualifying event on Feb. 12. MORE
