Inside The Royal (Fencing) Wedding: Pics And Videos From Lee Kiefer & Gerek Meinhardt's Big Day

It’s official. The wedding we've all been waiting for has finally happened.

U.S. Olympic foil fencers and world medalists Lee Kiefer and Gerek Meinhardt - also known as GLee - tied the knot on Sunday, Sept. 1, at Keene Barn in Lexington, Kentucky.

The Notre Dame grads have been an item for eight years, and competing at the same competitions even longer.

The wedding guests included more than 15 of the country's best fencers, who flew in from all across the country to celebrate their friends. Many of these guests referred to the ceremony as the “Royal Fencing Wedding” along with using the hashtag “#kieferstolemeinhardt” on social media.

What an amazing weekend full of smiles and laughs! So overjoyed to celebrate @gerekmeinhardt and @leetothekiefer and I wish them both a future of happiness and success. . Gerek: we've come a long way from playing videogames after you would finish piano lessons with my mom. You were my idol growing up and I don't think I could've achieved the success in my life without you as a role model, mentor, and eventually competitor. You continue to push me to be better, not only in fencing, but as a person. You have always led by example and I look forward to learning more from you in the future. You are kind, humble, extremely dedicated to the important things and people in your life, and one of the wisest people I know. I couldn't be a prouder teammate and, more importantly, friend. . Lee: when we first met, we were just two nerds who needed to do homework before competing at our first Cadet Worlds in Acireale. You accepted my awkwardness and we became fast friends. I've always enjoyed competing with you on the fencing strip; whenever I saw you do well at World Championships, I always wanted to one-up you. Suffice it to say, that was not an easy task. But through all these years I've always admired your ambition and drive, not only in fencing but in all realms of your life. Your love of life is only rivaled by your love of Gerek. I am so happy to have known you through all these years and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for you two. . #kieferstolemeinhardt
