The U.S. men's ice hockey team is going after its second consecutive medal at the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship after finishing third in the tournament in 2017. So far, the team is 5-2 at the conclusion of group play.

The group stage was not without its excitement. Team USA scored 27 goals in its first seven games, highlighted by a dominant 7-1 win over Denmark. Team captain Patrick Kane leads the squad with 10 points on two goals and eight assists.

Next up for the men's team is a quarterfinals matchup against Russia on Thursday. The U.S. finished in fourth place in its group, Group A, while Russia finished first in Group B.
