On Thursday, the U.S. women’s soccer team wrapped group play at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup after defeating rival Sweden, 2-0.
The USWNT topped Group F with a flawless 3-0 record and no goals against, extending its World Cup winning streak to eight games. The women also set the record for most goals scored in the group stage at 18.
From opening kickoff, the U.S. pushed to defend its title, starting with a record-setting 13-0 performance against Thailand that was then followed by a 3-0 win versus Chile.
The U.S. women now head to their Round of 16 matchup Monday against Spain, who finished second in Group B with a 1-1-1 record.
