The U.S. women’s national team shattered Thailand in a 13-0 victory in its 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Group F opener on Tuesday in Reims, France. Alex Morgan led the team with a record-tying, five-goal performance and three assists.

Former USWNT forward Michelle Akers originally set the record for most goals scored in a single match during the 1991 Women’s World Cup in a quarterfinals win against Taiwan. Team USA’s performance Monday was also the largest margin of victory in FIFA World Cup history.
