On Sunday, the U.S. women’s water polo team qualified for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 after winning gold at the FINA World League Super Final in Budapest, Hungary.
Team USA secured its sixth consecutive gold in the tournament after defeating Italy 10-9 in the gold-medal game.
In the championship match, Makenzie Fischer led the way for Team USA, scoring four goals on four shots and was awarded Player of the Game honors.
The U.S. women's team currently hold every major title possible in the sport -- Olympic, world championship, World Cup, World League, plus Pan American and Intercontinental -- and is one of the most dominant teams across any Olympic sport.
