Three-time Olympic swimmer Allison Schmitt turned 29 on Friday, June 7.
Schmitt is an eight-time Olympic medalist (four golds, two silvers, two bronzes), who made her debut as an 18-year-old at the Olympic Games Beijing 2008. At the London 2012 Games her five-medal haul included gold in the 200-meter freestyle and silver in the 400 free. Schmitt also competed at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, where she won three gold medals and one silver.
Schmitt had an impressive swimming career at the University of Georgia where she won six NCAA championships.
Following the Olympic Games Rio 2016, Schmitt contemplated retirement, but ultimately decided to continue her training in hopes of making the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team.
