ICYMI: Alex Lee Wins Team USA's First Medal, USA Gymnastics Dominates & More From Day 1 In Lima

The first official day of competition at the Pan American Games Lima 2019 started off on a great foot for Team USA. Alex Lee kicked off the day winning Team USA's first gold medal of the Games in taekwondo.

From modern pentathlon to rugby,Team USA athletes proved they were here to compete.

The games will continue until Aug. 11 featuring over 600 Team USA athletes, with 12 sports up for qualification opportunities for the upcoming Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

See You In Tokyo

Modern pentathlete Samantha Achterberg won silver, which earned her a spot on the roster for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Modern pentathlon is the only sport that has potential for individuals to qualify by for the upcoming Games. 




U.S. men Amro Elgeziry and Brendan Anderson, will have their chance at qualifying for Tokyo 2020 during tomorrow's competition.

Riley McCusker Steals The Show

The U.S. women's gymnastics team had no problem showing off at the women's team event. The squad defeated team Canada by almost 11 points. For those of you new the gymternet (gymnastics + internet) that's a pretty big margin of victory



The next women's event is Monday with the women's all-around competition. And with that, the U.S. women's gymnastics squad is signing out.



Rugby Keeps On Rolling

The U.S. men's and women's rugby team continued their strong showings in front of big crowds. Next stop: the semifinals


Making History 

Alex Lee stole the show winning the first medal for Team USA at the Pan American Games. He also became for the first American athlete ever to medal in poomsae taekwondo...and it was GOLD!
