Daniel Holloway competes at the London Six Day Race on Oct. 21, 2015 in London.
Daniel Holloway and Adrian Hegyvary scored a surprising finish in the men’s Madison event of the track cycling world cup at Cambridge, New Zealand.
The two Americans earned a bronze medal Saturday, finishing behind New Zealand and the Netherlands. The New Zealand team of Aaron Gate and Campbell Stewart earned 76 points, while the Netherlands had 30 and the U.S. 26, just ahead of Russia with 25. The Americans earned 20 points for taking a lap on the field and also won one of the 12 sprints.
The U.S. entered the fifth of six world cup events in 18th place.
The Madison discipline is essentially 30-kilometer cycling relay. While there are teams of two, only one can be on the track at a time, with one rider tagging in his partner.
