USA Archery highlighted the excitement today at the Pan American Games Lima 2019 after Brady Ellison broke a world record in men’s individual recurve and also set a Pan Ams’ record in the men’s recurve team-ranking round alongside teammates Jack Williams and Thomas Stanwood. Cholé Dygert Owen won gold in road cycling, representing Team USA strong as she was the only American road cyclist in the competition. Mike Rodgers also claimed the 100-meter title at day two of track and field.
The 18th Pan Ams continue until Aug. 11, featuring over 600 Team USA athletes, with multiple sports still up for qualification opportunities for the upcoming Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

USA Archery Has A Historic Day
Today, Ellison broke the individual recurve score record after receiving a combined score of 702. USA Archery – composed of Ellison, Williams and Stanwood – also set a Pan Ams’ record together at 2057, which was 55 points more than anyone else in the team-ranking round.

It was also an exciting day for the women's recurve team, who is heading to the recurve team finals after defeating Colombia 6-2.

Dygert Owen Blows Past the Competition
Dygert Owen won the women’s road cycling time trial finals in 23:36.51 and took home gold as a result. The 22-year-old cyclist impressively finished 1:13.72 ahead of the pack. This is the first Pan American Games medal of her career.

Mike Rodgers Sprints to Gold in the 100-meter Final
Rodgers didn't look back after taking off for the gold medal in the men's 100-meter dash final. The 34-year-old sprinter came out on top with at 10.09.
