Day seven was filled with more memorable moments, from medal-winning celebrations to family bonding, at the Pan American Games Lima 2019. The USA badminton duos of Phillip and Ryan Chew and Keui-Ya Chen and Jamie Hsu each won silver, Lucas Kozenisky secured an Olympic quota thanks to his gold-medal performance in the men’s air rifle finals and more.

The Pan American Games continue until Aug. 11, featuring over 600 Team USA athletes, with multiple sports up for qualification opportunities for the upcoming Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

Badminton Doubles Take Silver in both Men’s and Women’s Finals

The chew brothers took home the silver medal in men’s badminton doubles after losing to Canada, 2-1. The women – Chen and Hsu – also ended up falling to Canada, 2-0, giving Team USA its second silver of the day in badminton.

While the brothers were excited about their medal, what made it even better was being able to win it in front of their family, who made the trip all the way to Lima.

The Chews weren't the only ones who got to celebrate with their loved ones. Diver Andrew Capobianco competed to the familiar sound of his parent's loud cheers.

What Else Went On?

With each day of the Games, (unfortunately) some sports' competition comes to an end. We are already missing the women's artistic gymnastics team, that's for sure.

On the bright side, however, that means that we get to celebrate the start of new sports. Olympic swimmer Cody Miller is pretty excited about that part.

While the men's 3x3 basketball team won gold a few days ago, the men's 5x5 competition is just beginning. Myles Powell is already gaining some attention for his performance as well.

Olympic diver Steele Johnson gave us a behind-the-scenes look of what it's like to be an athlete at the Pan American Games.

And, finally, in case you are wondering what the weather is like in Peru, Monica Abbott hit the nail on the head.
