The USA Men's Eagles Sevens is in the midst of a historic season.

The rugby squad compiled five straight podium finishes, the most of any nation so far in this season's World Rugby Sevens Series. The top finishes have amounted to a No. 1 ranking in the standings with six events down and four remaining. The top four teams when the season concludes in June will lock down a berth at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

This marks the first time that the U.S. has ever earned a No. 1 ranking in the World Rugby Sevens Series. Americans had also never earned back-to-back medals until this season’s competition. This is a team that finished last season ranked sixth and placed ninth at the Olympic Games Rio 2016.

During the U.S. men's rugby sevens team's monumental run, it has claimed four silver-medal finishes and, most recently, a gold-medal finish in Las Vegas.
